NPS Solovair is a British footwear brand with a rich and storied history that spans over a century. The brand’s roots can be traced back to 1881 when the Griggs family founded the Northamptonshire Productive Society (NPS) in Wollaston, England. Initially, NPS specialized in manufacturing work boots and shoes.

In the late 1950s, NPS Solovair entered into a collaborative partnership with Dr. Martens, another iconic British footwear brand. NPS Solovair was responsible for producing the sole units for Dr. Martens’ popular air-cushioned sole footwear. This partnership continued for several decades and played a significant role in the success and recognition of both brands.

However, in 1995, Dr. Martens decided to move their production overseas, leading to the discontinuation of the collaboration with NPS Solovair. Undeterred, NPS Solovair resolved to continue manufacturing their own line of footwear, carrying on the tradition of crafting high-quality, durable shoes in their Northamptonshire factory.

NPS Solovair’s commitment to British manufacturing and craftsmanship remained unwavering. The brand’s shoes are still produced in their original factory, with each pair meticulously crafted by skilled artisans. The shoes are made using traditional methods and feature Goodyear welted construction, ensuring durability and easy resoling.

Over the years, NPS Solovair has gained a loyal following and a reputation for producing timeless and robust footwear. Their signature styles include the iconic 1461 shoe and the classic 8-eye boot, which have become synonymous with the brand’s heritage and craftsmanship.
