In 2015, while at a pub, we conceived an idea: Could we support small UK manufacturers by placing production-sized orders and promote the use of domestically made products?
We made a public commitment to pursue this idea and felt obliged to follow through.
Our journey began with trousers. Interestingly, our hometown of Hebden Bridge was once renowned as Trousertown, producing over 20,000 pairs of trousers weekly, equivalent to a million pairs annually. Although our knowledge about trousers was limited, we had a lifetime of experience wearing them, which we believed counted for something.
In January 2016, we launched HebTroCo on Kickstarter, a crowdfunding platform, aiming to sell an initial batch of 176 pairs of trousers. Surprisingly, we sold out within five hours. Encouraged by this success, we decided to quit our jobs and commit ourselves fully to HebTroCo.
"At HebTroCo, everything we offer is exclusively Made Right Here."
Our approach seems to be effective. We have expanded our range to include a comprehensive selection of clothing and other related items, collaborating with local manufacturers, mills, and factories across the UK.
